The Amesha Spentas (Holy Immortals) are the six supreme divine beings created by Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrian belief. Each protects an element of the universe and represents a virtue: Vohu Manah (good thought), Asha Vahishta (highest truth), Khshathra Vairya (desired sovereignty), Spenta Armaiti (holy devotion), Haurvatat (wholeness), and Ameretat (immortality).
The Amesha Spentas are the commanders of the divine army that sustains Ahura Mazda’s cosmic order and fights against Ahriman’s evils. They form the highest angelic hierarchy of Zoroastrian cosmology and are considered the conceptual ancestors of Christian and Islamic angels.
