Lilith is a dark figure in Jewish mythology considered to be Adam’s first wife. According to the Talmud and Kabbalistic traditions, Lilith refused to obey Adam, left the Garden of Eden, and transformed into a demon of the night.
Feared as a demon who threatens children and pregnant women, Lilith has also been interpreted as a symbol of independence and rebellion. Her origins trace back to Mesopotamian night spirits called “lilu.” In modern feminist literature, she has been reevaluated as the archetype of a woman rebelling against patriarchal order.
