Genel Bakis

Fenrir is a monstrous wolf in Norse mythology, the son of Loki and the giantess Angrboda. Even at birth, he was far larger than ordinary wolves. The gods, fearing his power and the prophecies, decided to bind him.

Three attempts were made to chain him. He broke the first two easily, but a magical chain called Gleipnir was crafted by the dwarves. Fenrir agreed to be bound only if one of the gods placed their hand in his mouth. Brave god Tyr offered his hand and Fenrir was chained — but lost his hand in the process.

When Ragnarok comes, Fenrir will break free and face Odin. According to prophecy, Fenrir will swallow Odin but will then be slain by Odin’s son Vidar. Fenrir is the most powerful symbol of uncontrollable natural forces and inevitable doom.
